How to make the most out of selling items? #
In guide-levelling I said that EXP is more important and I stand by it. However you can still slightly optimize what you do every single day as a merchant.
Customer count: #
- Depends on how many items are on display on your racks (more items -> more customers visit per hour). If you’re running low, buy from market.
- Depends on your selling table level. Higher level -> more customers can wait around it.
What items to craft/request from market? #
Technically you can cover EVERY customer’s demands by having these 3 item types in stock (mannequin rack):
- Heavy gauntlets (stone)
- Light armor (stone, leather)
- Clothes (leather)
They’re also the most expensive to request on the market so… maybe have more chest space instead to buy “imperfect” item types for cheap. Requesting low tiers at 2-3x item price works well.
Energy #
It’s important and versatile. Surcharge to gain more gold or boost crafting to gain more gold & EXP. First of all, a higher selling table level will give you more energy for every sold item.
Small talk: #
It has a 70% chance to give you energy (75% with premium worker).
- On success: gives a percentage of missing energy.
- If low energy, you’ll get a LOT of energy.
- On failure: removes % of current energy.
- If you are >80% energy, you’ll barely get anything, but if it fails you’ll lose a lot of energy
--> It’s best to use small talk until you have 50-80% energy filled.
Since it gives you less energy the more you have, always use small talk BEFORE discount. Discount is a flat +energy. If you need energy to sell a high tier item, it’s better not to small talk at all but sell more items & discount.
Steps:
- Surcharge an expensive item
- Small talk with this item
- Sell to gain the most energy
There are hotkeys in this game #
@TODO: Hotkeys now configurable in settings
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2071199090 I find the NUMPAD hotkeys most convenient, you gotta play twister with your left hand (that’s what I do) but it speeds up the selling significantly and becomes pleasantly fast. There’re also keys on WASD but I can’t remember them.
I sense the upcoming question: should I prioritize energy upgrades to surcharge more expensive items more often? No, you better keep crafting more higher tier items and sell at normal prices in shop. That gives you EXP and is the only way to improve EXP gain. Have at least 3 of each t1 resource bin (stone, wood, herbs). Higher merchant levels unlock crafting slots & shop -> allow you to craft more etc., it’s a positive snowball effect. Focus on experience, not gold (within reason). I’ve played this strategy and it’s only worth short-term or if you wanted to freeze your level for event-guide-tower (not really worth imo)
